Stephen James Gallagher, in his 69th year, passed away peacefully at Hospice North Hastings, Bancroft, on Saturday, August 23, 2008, with his daughters by his side. Stephen was recently diagnosed with Amylotrophic Lateral Schlerosis (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). He fought a courageous battle with humour and dignity. Stephen leaves behind his partner Rose Green, his daughters Lori Sheppard (Chris) and Lynn Vander Woude (Richard), and step-daughters Tammy Ruddy (Tim), and Tracy McAllister (Brian). His spirit will live on in the hearts of his 11 grandchildren; Taylor, Donnelly, Reilly, Kaelen, Nicholas, Meghan, Samantha, Nicholas, Mariah, Braeden and Allie. Stephen was predeceased by his parents John Joe and Pearl (Donnelly), his sister Doris and his brother-in-law Bob. Left to mourn are his siblings, Harold (Beverly), Theresa Donnelly, Dan (Joan), Patricia Green (Bill), Carmel Shulist (Art), Tommy (Marjorie), Sheila Douglas (Wayne) and his daughter’s mother, Noreen Resmer. Stephen will be missed by many friends and extended members of the Gallagher, Minnie and Byrnes families. He enjoyed playing the guitar, hunting with the gang, and playing cards. Cremation has taken place. Stephen’s family will receive relatives and friends at the M.G. Daly Funeral Home (200 Old Hastings Rd., Maynooth), on Monday evening 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday morning 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at St. Ignatius Martyr Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment, St. Ignatius Martyr Cemetery, Maynooth.
