Peacefully, at his home, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, June 23, 2019. Vince Childs, age 48, of Bancroft, was the beloved husband of Laura (McGarry) Childs. Loving father of Mathiew and Colleen. Son of the late George and Amelia Childs of Newfoundland. Son-in-law of David and Mary Lynn McGarry of Bancroft. Brother of Bertha Sacrey, Doris (Lloyd) Mitchell, Leona (Ron) Regular, Maxine (Pearce) Mitchell, Archie (Lillian) Childs, Maryann (Roy) Murrin, Jim (Debbie) Childs, Genova (Don), Barry (Crissy) Childs, Wilfred (Rhonda) Childs, Louise (Terry) Batt, and Mark (Kathleen) Childs. Brother-in-law of Blaine McGarry (Rochelle), Stephanie McGarry, and Phyllis Kendall. Predeceased by his brother Gordon Kendall, brother-in-law Archie Sheppard, and his nephew Bobby Mitchell. Survived by over 50 nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. Vince was well known in the community as the Owner/Operator of Bancroft Dollar Store and will be missed by many friends and customers. Vince’s family will receive relatives and friends at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church (196 Bridge St., W., Bancroft) on Wednesday 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Visitation will also take place on Thursday morning June 27, 2019, from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. with Father Terrance Sirosky presiding. Cremation will follow. As expressions of sympathy, donations to North Hastings High School Music Program would be appreciated by the family.
