Peacefully, at her home in Cardiff, on Monday, December 03, 2018. Marlene Behnke, age 73, was the beloved wife of Percy Behnke. Cherished mother of Joanne (John) Potts of Bancroft, Dianne (Dwayne) Mountney of Cardiff, Luanne Florent of Cardiff, and Suanne Behnke of Cardiff. Adored grandmother of Amanda (Bill), Sarah (Isaac), Ashley, Jenna (Brady) and Tyler. Sister and sister-in-law of Ernie (Marilyn) Bruce, Dale (Jim) Fleguel, Fred (Bonnie) Bruce, and Doug (Vera) Bruce. Predeceased by her daughter Leanne, her parents Roy and Dora (Inwood) Bruce, and her brother Dennis. Fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews and friends. Marlene was born in Bancroft on August 27, 1945 and was raised in McArthur’s Mills. She was a homemaker for many years and then cooked in a restaurant, provided childcare, worked in a laundromat, drove school bus, and was a partner alongside her husband with Percy Behnke Logging. Marlene enjoyed cooking and baking, sitting on her front step visiting with neighbours, knitting, doing word search puzzles, and enjoying a cup of coffee and visiting with company. Most especially, she loved her family and her sweet little Dixie dog. At Marlene’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place, with Marlene’s ashes interred in Hermon Cemetery in the spring. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Community Care Haliburton would be appreciated by the family.
