Potts, Hariett Joyce Marie

Joyce Potts, a resident of Bancroft most of her life, passed away in London on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at the age of 82.  Born in Maynooth in 1935, she was the daughter of Dennis and Catherine Burke (Hughes).  Joyce was the loving wife of the late Jack Potts (1994), who she married on November 29, 1955.  Dear mother of Diane (Dan) Haviland of Picton, Teresa (Don) Whitmore of Ottawa, Jackie McCormack of East-end Saskatchewan, Ted (Wendy) Potts of London, Fred (Lori) Potts of Bancroft, Susan Ross of Ottawa, John (Joanne) Potts of Bancroft, and Bobbi (Rob) Waal of London.  She will also be missed by her 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.  Mourning the passing of their sister are Eugene, Charles and Dennis Burke.  Joyce was pre-deceased by her siblings Ralph, Eileen, Helen and Cecil as well as her parents.  Joyce was employed over her life by Madawaska Mines, Griffin & Peters, IGA and the Bank of Nova Scotia.  She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy, taking an active role in the choir as well as the Catholic Women’s League where she enjoyed assisting with church suppers and bingos.  Joyce was active in the community as well for Canada Day, Rally of The Tall Pines, North Hastings Music Festival and of course, Santa’s Village House.  Her volunteerism was recognized when she was awarded Bancroft`s first “Citizen of The Year” award.  She loved preparing large meals for her extended family, listening to music, and sewing was one of her passions over the years.  Cremation has taken place.  Joyce’s family will receive relatives and friends at the M.G. Daly Funeral Home (200 Old Hastings Road, Maynooth) on Thursday evening 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., and Friday, November 3, 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.   A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church (53 Hwy 127, Maynooth) on Friday, November 03, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Malachy Ekezie presiding.  Interment of Joyce’s Cremated Remains will follow in St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Cemetery, Maynooth.    As expressions of sympathy, donations to Hospice North Hastings would be appreciated by the family.  (Cards available at the funeral home (613) 338-3259 or e-mail condolences to This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it or visit www.mgdalyfuneralhome.com).
