Passed away peacefully, at Hastings Centennial Manor, Bancroft, with his family by his side, on Sunday, February 28, 2016. Son of the late William Stringer (1964) and the late Margaret Coe (1945). Predeceased by his wife Loretto (nee O’Brien) (1971), and his daughter Geraldine (1951). Forever in their hearts, Gerald is survived by his children Eleanor Cadeau (the late Bob), Bernice Jenkins (Don), Allan Stringer (Christine), Lorne Stringer, and Paul Stringer (Andrea). Survived by his grandchildren (the late Carol and Christine), Cathy, Cindy, Robert, Jacqueline, James, Melanie, Cheryl, Leslie, Michael, Jonathon, Jennifer, Becky, Alex, and Gabby. Great-grandfather of 20, and great-great grandfather of 5. Gerald was a lifelong resident of Bancroft, working in both the Timmins Gold Mines as well as Bicroft Uranium Mines, and in construction and surveying. He was also retired from the Town of Bancroft in 1987. Gerald was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Parish, an avid hunter, trapper, fisherman and traveller. Gerald’s family will receive relatives and friends at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church on Thursday, March 03, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Patrick M. Dobec presiding. Cremation will follow at Lakefield Crematorium, with spring interment of Gerald’s Ashes in Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to North Hastings Community Cupboard or Hastings Centennial Manor would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to M.G. Daly Funeral Home, Maynooth.
