 Suddenly, at the Haliburton Highlands Health Services, Haliburton, on Thursday, May 11, 2023.  Eric Saunders, age 83 of Wilberforce, was the beloved husband of Janet (Lockwood) Saunders.  Loving father of Dwayne Lockwood (Amanda) of Wilberforce.  Loved grandfather of Stuart.  Son of the late Frank and Betty Saunders. Brother of Ernie (Roslin), Katie, Barbara (Willy) and the late Bert.  Brother-in-law of Wayne, Arnold (Meta), Ronald, Brian (Doreen), Delbert, Daryl, Joyce (Jim), Dale, Glen, Jimmy, Kevin, and Susan (David). Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and friends.  Eric was one of the founding members and a driving force of the Wilberforce Fire Department for over 52 years.  He loved to hunt and fish and worked for many years in the veneer plant in Wilberforce.  He will be missed by many.  Cremation has taken place.  Eric’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Lloyd Watson Memorial Community Centre (2249 Loop Road, Wilberforce) on Friday, May 26, 2023, from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. for a time of community gathering, and to celebrate Eric’s life.  Interment in South Wilberforce Cemetery at a later date.  As expressions of sympathy, donations to The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #624, Wilberforce, would be appreciated by the family.  Arrangements entrusted to M.G.
